Lower thirds are an essential piece of video and film storytelling. With these free templates for Premiere, you can add lower thirds and customize them in no time.
Lower thirds can potentially be a frustrating prospect for most video editors. Whether you know how to make motion graphics or not, it's always a time consuming process that can feel a bit less than creative, making them a bit of a chore. Once you've decided on your look, you still have to go through and make a new one for each character in the video, not to mention making them animated or usable on any background.
It can be frustrating.
That's why our friends over at RocketStock just released a pack of 15 Animated Lower Thirds for Adobe Premiere.

How To Use The Lower Thirds
In the above video, learn how to install, customize, and use the lower thirds in Adobe Premiere.
Installing the lower thirds is simple, all you have to do is open up the Essential Graphics panel. In the lower right hand corner, click on the "Install Motion Graphics Template" button. You'll likely need to install each template one at a time. This might take a moment, but it'll be well worth it.
Once you've installed the templates, you'll be able to customize the look of them by clicking on them in your sequence and navigating to the "Edit" tab in the Essential Graphics panel.
In the Essential Graphics panel you'll find controls for colors, sizes, and the specific text you want your lower third to contain.
Each lower third has different available parameters based on the needs of that particular lower third. Not all lower thirds will have color controls or certain size controls. However, each template will feature parameters to customize them for their specific need.
Options and Looks
There are 15 different lower thirds to choose from. So, there should be a look for any type of video that you'd want to create.
However, if you don't see something you like you should be able to customize one to make it more in line with your video. If you still can't make something work, the project file is included so you'll be able to hop into After Effects and change the fonts or animation specifics to something that feels more appropriate.
Animated lower thirds that are customizable natively in Adobe Premiere like this is a relatively new possibility. Now, motion graphics designers can pass files to editors so the editors can make the necessary changes without ever opening After Effects.
With a short period of time and little bit of know-how, you can quickly build a nice library of animations to use in your videos and customize them for each various project.
